Yikes! I Missed It
Wow. I completely missed National Grammar Day and National Talk, Like, What-EVRRR Day
But the boys at Language Log were on the job–although they missed the latter celebration
The Rhetorica Network offers analysis and commentary about the rhetoric of journalism, politics, and our culture. Ah, national Grammar day. I, too, meant to post a note about it. But perhaps it’s in keeping with the idea that if one hasn’t anything nice to say, one should keep silent.
Or the idea that if one is going to worry overmuch about grammar scolds, one will keep one’s yap shut through quivering, mindless terror.
Teach your students–if they leave their participles dangling, the grammar scolds will come at night and eat them up.
Thanks,
