An amusing little invitation…
Bring it on, baby! You think you bad? We bad! Uh-huh.
So, is this the stupidest thing to come out of the President’s mouth since he’s been in office? Wait and see. The answer depends upon two things:
1- What is the President’s immediate goal for this rhetoric? Does he achieve it? I agree with Mike Silverman who says that a “lot of people really like the macho stuff, and Bush has done it well.” The quip scores points. It reinforces the President’s macho image. Such images need reinforcement because such quips and other rhetorical flourishes, upon which images are built, are soon forgotten–just like the dead-or-alive rhetoric he used against Osama bin Laden (who?).
2- What are the long-term effects? Wait and see.
I hope some gang of terrorists doesn’t take this as a challenge. I don’t think Bush wants the political fallout that would follow a deadly strike and a videotape of gloating terrorists celebrating a victory.

: Thickening plot, part 2…

I’m sure this comment will make the liberal droolers go nuts, but having read some about the Islamocrazies who are our enemies, I have to say, this will be more impressive to them than say, the Clinton World Apology Tour, which pleased our Euro “friends”, but made us look weak and feckless to the Islamocrazies. I’m sure our “friends” in Europe are appalled at this rhetoric, but for now, at least, they are not our enemy.
Perhaps. And I think what you’re doing is cogently pointing out the short-term intention of such rhetoric. I find it annoying (am I a drooler?), but I recognize how effective it can be. What will be interesting to see is the long-term effect. That’s what far too few politicians pay attetnion to.
Well, we’re all annoyed, but the Islamocrazies only understand strength-not weakness, which our liberal-socialist Euro “friends” value.
