Rhetorica: Press-Politics Journal

Another Example of How It Could Work

All that harping I do about tell a different story of politics–you know, the whole thing about making political reporting in America better by asking journalists to fulfill their primary purpose? Well, watch this video from the Washington Post.

Cool, huh?

Now, what should the Post do next? Two things come immediately to mind:

1. Assign a reporter to this group through at least the Iowa caucuses. Cover their experiences of trying to rally young voters and to encourage the candidates to speak to their issues.

2. What are the candidates’ positions on issues of interest to young voters? How have their past policies affected young citizens?

Done well, coverage in these areas would likely produce real journalism–the information people need to be free and self-governing.
