Tabloid (could) = serious…

I’m a big fan of the tabloid format. I think it’s an easier size to handle than the traditional broadsheet. Further, it’s shape can have meaning beyond its mere physical convenience. As we all know, “tabloid” has a pejorative meaning regarding content. But I think we could establish a new meaning that springs from its magazine-like dimensions: seriousness. Is that what David Hiller, publisher of the Chicago Tribune, has in mind? I wonder. But he is thinking about making his paper a tabloid. I hope he does.
