Agitated minds…
I’ve spent the entire day attending the Public Affairs Conference at Missouri State University. I plan to post a few comments and another podcast or two about it. But right now I’m tired and just want to go home and have happy hour. I’ll leave you with this interesting assertion from the panel on religious extremism:
“The agitated mind is the most dangerous force in the world.”

“The agitated mind is the most dangerous force in the world.” How true, especially for those defending the status quo.
Our own history is filled with “agitated” minds. Agitation over “no taxation without representation” brought forth a whole new form of government. The “agitated” minds of religious fanatics formed the abolitionist movement, pushing the national debate about slavery to the forefront of a country which only wanted to ignore it, and considered slavery a “Southern” problem. In our own lifetime (well, for some of us, anyway), the “agitated” and religious mind of Martin Luther King, Jr. saying “enough” to segregation, initiated the Civil Rights Movement.
I’d say our country need more “agitated” minds, not less.
