Spring has sprung…
One adventure ends, and another begins. Today I accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Journalism in the Media, Journalism & Film Department of Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
What does this mean for The Rhetorica Network? In the short term, it means that I will have limited time to write. Under no circumstances will I abandon this weblog (although I will cut back on my analyses of campaign speeches for PCR2004 until this fall). Take a look at the monthly archives in left sidebar; you will see that Rhetorica is now two years old. In blogging years, that’s approaching middle age. This thing is just gettin’ good
But I think you should expect that I will take several short breaks this spring and summer as I do the hard work of moving my family to Springfield.
In the long term, I hope my new position will help me continue to improve my analyses of press-politics for the readers of Rhetorica.

Dr C, I would like to be the first to say Congratulations!!!! On your new position. You will like Springfiled. I have family that lives there and family thatlives futher south in Arkansas.
You can look at it this way, you are only 1 hour from Branson, and there is a lot to do there. I hope to be able to read more on the Rhetorica and I also hope to get my northmenblog back up and running, just having programming problems again.
But at least look at it this way you are not moving to far from KC. It is not like you are moving half way around the world.
Again Congrats!!! You deserve it.

Dr. Cline, I’d like to add my congratulations. I think it’s a matter of distinction that Kansas City could count you among their blogging population, as Springfield now will. Good luck. I look forward to hearing of your endeavours.
WhooHoo! Champagne all around — I’m buying!
Congratulations, Dr. Cline, and good luck!
Congratulations! and Mazel Tov! and Good for you!
I will be disappointed when you take breaks, and pleased when you come back from them. Good luck, good students, and all manner of good things.

Blogiversary
Andrew Cline’s “Rhetorica: Press-Politics Journal” is two years old today. He has also taken a new position at Southwest Missouri State University. Congrats on both!…
I am very happy for you. Your knowledge and ability to express it here at this blog have impressed me from my first criticism of your seeming praise for one of W’s State of the Union Messages. I can’t think of a better place for you than the Columbia Missouri assignment. You will be on a tenure track, and I am sure you will get it with all your “smarts.”
best wishes

Springfield is even better! Stupid me; I have kin who are doctors in Springfield.

Congratulations Andrew! Not to scare you or anything, but this raises the real possibility that I will appear at your office door someday. My sister lives in Springfield, and my niece is a current student at SMSU. Best of luck . .
Congrats! That’s really good news.
Ah, congratulations on the full-time gig. Look forward to the added incitefulness generated by not having to look for a job.
BTW, 2 years is middle age? I thought it was *old*!
Thanks to all!
Ken…you bet…please do stop by for a visit! I’ll buy lunch. We have lots to talk about
How did I miss this news? Congratulations!
