Spotlight on politicians…
I loved “Lou Grant,” the early 80s TV show about journalists. I was a young journalist at the time, and my enjoyment of the show had more to do with its being about my profession than the quality of the program. TV thrives on cops, lawyers, and doctors. So it was refreshing to watch something that had to do with me.
More recently, I was a fan of “The Education of Max Bickford” for similar reasons, now that I am an academic. And my interest (personal and professional) in presidential politics keeps me tuning in to “The West Wing.”
HBO is planning a series for political junkies, by Steven Sonderbergh, called “K Street.” The show will dramatize a campaign for President (as if that needs more drama or fiction). It’s slated to begin this fall. I’ll be tuning in (it may even offer plenty of blogging opportunities).
